Attention Illustration fans: spotted in a book store in London’s Charing Cross Road, Masquerade.

Thanks to friend of Ten Towers, Penny Martin for this gem: Masquerade is a beautifully illustrated book popular with school children and more than a few adults in the late 70s early 80s. Written and painted by Kit Williams, the book was full of hidden clues as to the whereabouts of buried treasure: a beautiful and jewelled  golden hare. It was eventually found by a man and a metal detector under very mysterious circumstances some years later.

The hare sold to a mystery buyer for £31,900 in December 1988.
