Geometry of a Balmain jacket: some impromptu measurements taken by thumb.

There are variations on this season’s now notorious Balmain jacket for autumn. Press day findings went thus:

Shoulder pad measures three inches in height and around five inches in length this sits inside black silk lining.

A blue satin blouse studded with crystal, again with shoulder pad. Note the shoulder lies flat here, there is no kick at the end.

Above a studded boucle wool jacket. A thick silver chain traces the collar and front of the jacket. It is incredibly heavy. The shoulder pads are huge.

  1. I absolutely respect and admire what Christopher Decarnin has done with the house, although some view it as a remedial attempt to place Balmain in the lime light, what he did was necessary, he has perhaps revolutionized the 80’s by submerging it in an austere ambiance surrounded by crystal ankhs and Michael Jackson brocades.
