Now this was a star-studded event like no other: the Dolce & Gabbana / Vogue exhibition.
75 years worth of images of extreme beauty shot by some of the most respected and coveted photographers of our time (Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel. Steven Klein, Sheila Metzner, Deborah Tuborville, David Avedon amongst others). This coincided with the launch of the designer duo’s new make-up range.
Co-hosted by Anna Wintour, Franca Sozzani and the Mayor of Milan the celebrity roll call was astounding and worthy of the Oscars: Scarlett Johansson, Kate Hudson, Naomi Watts, Freida Pinto along with the three ice-blonde super models of our era: Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova and Nadja Auermann. Designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada, the Missonis and Manolo Blahnik came out in force to witness this unique spectacle.
Each image was cleverly encased in a what I can only describe as confessionals, with red fabric tented rooms that surrounded you whilst viewing each image – a genius design by Jean Nouvel.
The exhibition investigates the role of beauty in our culture and runs until the beginning of May.
Make it your destination if you’re Milan way.
